About
Producer, guitarist and visual artist Scott Faris has spent the past 20 years doing what he loves: creating. The proprietor of FarisWheel Productions, a music and art production company, and the owner of the Amusement Park Recording Studio in Lubbock, Texas, Scott is a veteran of the independent music and art scene. He has toured as the guitarist for 100 Love Sonnets, Meltdown Morning, the HiFi Collective and the Reagan Administration. Scott has played on, produced, engineered or created album covers for more projects than he can count.
Intensely creative, Scott spends his time producing albums for independent artists, painting and sculpting, building high-end websites, crafting unique album art and recording memorable guitar tracks.
Scott began his career as a guitar teacher for the world-renowned classical guitarist David Brandon. He later became the Director of Guitar Studies and founder and Co-Director of the Entertainment Business Program at South Plains College (Levelland, Texas), alma mater of Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks, Lee Ann Womack and Jedd Hughes. During his tenure at SPC, Scott was instrumental in developing its guitar program (including building a staff of eleven instructors) and was the founder and producer of AlternaTV, an audition-only, student-led rock band that filmed a live televised concert monthly.
A master of DIY, Scott is also a passionate speaker. His presentations cover a wide range of topics. From the intricacies of guitar tone to recording killer vocals, from surviving as an indie band to releasing a CD on any budget, Scott provides informative and useful presentations that inspire students and give them real-world solutions in an uncertain time.
Scott’s clients include Hal Leonard Publications, Mel Bay Publications, The Cactus Cuties, David Brandon, Johnny Lee, Cary Banks (The Maines Brothers), Jana Stanfield, Grammy-nominated songwriter Karen Taylor-Good, Compadre Records, Insight Records, Bobby Bookout, Big Idea, Inc., Les Eason, Mike Christiansen, The Charlie Shafter Band, Les Eason, Katie Howell, Honeybrowne, The Cutthroats, The Prairie Winds Chorus, Andy Eppler, Seth Rigg’s Speech Level Singing, Juanita Ulloa, WestMark Realtors, Pat Ham Realtors, McDougal Realtors, Ballet Lubbock, Structure Building Partners, Inc., The Thomas Agency, Digital Base Productions, The Price Group, XIT Wireless, Southwest Honda, Smith South Plains, Gone Virtual Studios, City Bank, American State Bank, and University Medical Center of El Paso.
